The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire has adopted ASME Elevator Safety Code A17.3-2017, Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators. A part of this new Safety Code includes Section 3.10 Operating Devices and Control Equipment, Requirement 3.10.12

System to Monitor and Prevent Automatic Operation of the Elevator with Faulty Door Contact Circuits. All existing elevators in Georgia will be required to meet this requirement by January 1, 2025. You will need to reach out to a company that has a valid Class I Certificate of Authority to make sure you know what you will need to do to bring your equipment into compliance.
